Welcome to Our Chronic Pain Community

This space connects family physicians, pharmacists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals with colleagues who have experience and expertise treating chronic pain and addiction. The discussion board is for sharing knowledge and experience, asking for advice, and building connections in a safe online community.

How It Started
Activity and resources were made possible through the Collaborative Mentorship Network for Chronic Pain and Addiction program (CMN) initiated under the work of the Primary Health Care Opioid Response Initiative (PHC ORI) to address the urgent need for local treatment options within primary care settings by building capacity and competencies within family physicians and primary care team members. After PHC ORI came to an end, the ACFP was able to expand the work and scope of the CMN with support from Health Canada’s Substance Use and Addiction Program (SUAP).

The success of the CMN can be attributed to all you, members of the community, mentors, learners, educators who commit to bettering the care of their patients.

Now that the official CMN program has ended, we encourage you to stay connected and post questions, resources, and any content that is related to chronic pain and/or substance use disorder.

CMN Philosophy
The CMN adopts the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Harm Reduction Policy for Psychoactive Substance Abuse. Access more Harm Reduction Services including the Harm Reduction and Recovery Module for Primary Care.
